Viking Jewellery and Small Items

This picture shows a small selection of the Viking and Saxon resources that I bring to every school.

Genuine antiquities (on the brown leather skin), a “Viking toothbrush” (pieces of straw tied together with twine)
and a flint and steel for firelighting.  There is a torch, made from old fustion (we call it hessian) soaked in tallow.
also shown is a Viking manicure set found in Jorvic (York)

Children are impressed with the giant bunch of keys!  They can try on a pair of Viking leather shoes and blow the whistle carved from a wooden stick.  They can also open the pot of incense used to worship Viking gods and have a smell.  Girls -and boys- like wearing the Viking jewellery and rings.

And as for the rat………
